"Mascagni, the Divo." A world premiere and exclusive event that will celebrate Pietro Mascagni, a pivotal figure in operatic music. Giancarlo Giannini,an internationally renowned actor, will give voice to the composer, restoring his charisma and complexity through an engaging narrative.

Max Gazzè, among Italy's most beloved singer-songwriters, will perform together with the Popular Orchestra of the Saltarello for a unique evening. The concert will see Gazzè reinterpret his repertoire in an unprecedented fusion with traditional sounds, thanks to the accompaniment of 15 musicians and 6 dancers who will bring to life choreography inspired by folk dances.

Another noteworthy event is the August 30 performance by the Banda Musicale del Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco, conducted by Maestro Donato Di Martile, which will stop in Livorno for an extraordinary concert as part of the Mascagni Festival 2025. An event that celebrates the great Italian musical tradition through a repertoire of veristic arrangements with a strong emotional impact, paying homage to the figure of Pietro Mascagni and the deep connection between music and the most authentic emotions.

Sept. 6 at Livorno's Hangar Creativi will stage "Cavaller-IA Rusticana," where one of the first real clashes between the art of man and the creativity of artificial intelligence can be witnessed. On the one hand, singers and a pianist will perform live the famous melodies of Mascagni's iconic opera. On the other, an algorithm reprocesses them and returns its musical performance in real time.

This VI Edition of the Mascagni Festival, will conclude Sept. 12 and 13 with one of Pietro Mascagni's finest operas, L'Amico Fritz, staged at Teatro Goldoni. This production will reprise the historic 1991 Teatro di Livorno production, paying homage to a title that represents a unicum in the Leghorn composer's output. Mascagni, with L'amico Fritz, experiments with lighter lyrical writing than in later dramas such as I Rantzau and Guglielmo Ratcliff, choosing the genre of operatic comedy.
